Mars 2084 is an online exploration game that extends the "Mission Spatiale" Cité des Sciences exhibition into the metaverse. Set in the year 2084, players embody robots awakening in an abandoned base on Mars. Guided by an AI companion named Lia, they must determine the ideal location for a new human settlement by completing four main missions:
- Weather Report: Interrogate weather probes to learn more about the Martian climate, essential for selecting a suitable site.
- Rover Expedition: Pilot a rover to collect ice samples as quickly as possible, securing vital water resources.
- Drone Flight: Take control of a drone to photograph the Martian terrain, assessing potential locations for the new base.
- Planet in Sight: Witness a rare celestial event—a planet passing in front of the Sun—and determine which planet it is, affecting mission decisions.
The game can be played solo or with assistance from other players online, leveraging the metaverse's social features.
Each mission rewards players with badges and unlocks avatar customization options, which can be enhanced through in-game purchases.
Mars 2084 is accessible on the Spatial.io platform via web browsers on computers or through the Spatial app on mobile and tablet devices. It is also compatible with VR headsets in a simplified version. The beginning of the game is free, with a premium version available that unlocks the full experience.
